Ülkelerin ekonomileri; farklı alanlarda faaliyet gösteren, kapasiteleri, üretimleri, amaçları, hukuki ve organizasyon yapıları birbirinden farklı işletmelerden oluşmaktadır. Günümüzde işletmelerin çoğunluğunu oluşturan küçük ve orta ölçekli işletmeler (KOBİ), esnek yapılarıyla tüm dünya ülkelerinde ekonominin temel yapı taşlarından biridir. Değişimlere daha kolay uyum sağlayabilen KOBİ’ler ekonomik büyümeye sağladıkları katkı ve işsizliğin azaltılması için yarattıkları istihdam oranı ile refahın ülkemizde daha dengeli dağılmasına yardımcı olmaktadırlar. Bu çalışmada, Konya ili Sarayönü İlçesi sınırları içerisinde yer alan mevcut sanayi ve tarım işletmeleri ile bu işletmelerin büyük çoğunluğunu oluşturan KOBİ’lerin; yapısı, özellikleri, bölgede dağılışı, potansiyeli araştırılmış ve ilçenin ekonomik yapısı incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışma ile Sarayönü İlçesi’nde sanayileşmenin artmasıyla birlikte, ortaya çıkabilecek ekonomik gelişmelere katkı sağlanması amaçlanmıştır

The economies of countries are formed by businesses in different fields that have different capacities, productivity, purposes and legal and organizational structures. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), constituting the most part of today’s businesses, are one of the core components of the economies in the world with their flexible structure. SMEs, adapting more easily to the changes, pave the way for a fairer income distribution with their contribution to economic growth and the reducing of unemployment with new job opportunities. This study documented the structures, characteristics, local distribution and potentials of big industrial businesses and SMEs forming a big part of these businesses located in Sarayönü district of Konya province. Their contribution to local and national economy was also investigated. This study is intended to contribute to new potential developments that can take place with the increase in industrialization in Sarayönü district
