Türkiye’nin doğusunda, Elazığ ilinde çocuklarda tonsillektomi ve adenoidektomi sıklığı
Amaç: Bu çalışmada çocuklarda tonsillektomi ve adenoidektomi sıklığının sosyoekonomik düzeye göre belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve yöntem: Sosyoekonomik düzeyi birbirinden farklılık gösteren iki okulda bilgi formları dağıtılarak veriler toplandı. Formlarda çocukların yaşları, cinsiyetleri, tonsillektomi ve adenoidektomi geçirip geçirmediği, aile geçiminin nasıl sağlandığı ve ebeveynin eğitim durumu sorgulandı. Veriler istatistiksel olarak “Ki-kare” testi ile karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: Çalışmamıza dahil edilen 775 çocuktan %4.9’u tonsillektomi, %2.7’si adenoidektomi, %2.1’i ise hem tonsillektomi, hem adenoidektomi geçirmişlerdi. Frequency of the tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in children in Elazig province, in the east of Turkey
Objectives: The aim of this study was to detect the frequency of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy in children according to their socioeconomic status. Materials and Methods: Data was collected by a questionnaire distributed to two schools containing students belong to different socioeconomic levels. The age and gender of the children, whether tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy were performed or not, socioeconomic and educational status of the parents were questioned. Data was compared statistically by Chi-square test. Results: Of the 775 children, 4.9% were performed tonsillectomy, 2.7% adenoidectomy and 2.1% were both of them. The incidence of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy was found to be significantly higher among the children belong to high socioeconomic status and whose parents more educated and had high economic status (p<0.01). Conclusion: We think that the reason of the high incidence of tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy among the children having high socioeconomic status and their parents are more cautious about their children’s health problems and they use health services more easily.
