Value Orientations of High School Students

To determine students’ values Allport-Vermon-Lindzey Values Scale was used. The scale consists of 6 sub-scales. These are theoretical, economical, aesthetic, social, political and religious values (Allport et al., 1960; Allport et al., 1970). The dominant feature in theoretical value is the discovery of truth. Economic type deals with what is beneficial. For those who give importance to aesthetic values like shape and harmony have great importance. What matter is humanity for the ones having social values. As for those who attach importance to politi- cal value, power comes first. The most important value is unity for a religious person (Allport et al., 1970; Ayar, 2007)
