Anahtar Kelimeler: Propolis, flavonoid, antienflamatuar, diş hekimliği Abstract Propolis is a sesinous substance that was produced by bees from different herbal secretions. The main polyphenols which propolis contains are made by phenolic acid and its esters, phenolic aldehydes and ketones and flavonoids. The phenolic compounds in propolis increases the capacity of cells to neutralize oxidative stress and help prevent cell death with their antiinflammatory and antioxidant effects. The use of propolis in dentistry has been included in many studies. To prevent tooth caries, preventing pulp inflammation in direct pulp capping, in canal treatments as canal medicament, as a storage medium for avulsion teeth to ensure the continuity of the vitality of periodontal ligament cells and as a plaque elimination and antimicrobial agent, propolis solution is used as mouthwash to prevent tooth caries and pulp inflammation. In this review, the usage areas of propolis in dentistry are discussed. Keywords: Propolis, flavonoid, antiinflammatory, dentistry
