Bu araştırmanın amacı, oyun bahçelerinde yer alan materyallerin, oyun alanlarının büyüklüğünün, oyun alanlarının ve materyallerinin güvenlik vb. özelliklerinin, 3-6 yaş aralığında çocukları olan anne babalar tarafından değerlendirilerek oyun alanları ile ilgili yaşadıkları sorunların incelenmesidir. Araştırma örneklemini Adana il merkezinde yaşayan, okulöncesi eğitim kurumuna devam eden 3- 6 yaş aralığında çocuğu olan anne ve babalar oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmaya 100 anne ve 39 baba olmak üzere toplam 139 ebeveyn gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen anket formu kullanılmıştır. İki bölümden oluşan anket formunun birinci bölümünde araştırmaya katılan ebeveynlerin kişisel bilgileri, ikinci bölümde ise çocuklarının oyun bahçelerinden yararlanma durumları, yaşadıkları sorunlar ve beklentilerinin değerlendirilmesine yönelik sorular yer almaktadır. Ebeveynlerden alınan anket formlarının değerlendirilmesi için yapılan yüzde frekans analizi sonucunda, örneklemde yer alan ebeveynlerin %48.2’si çocukları ile haftada bir-iki gün oyun parklarına gittikleri, %48.9’unun bir saate yakın oyun parkında kaldıkları görülmektedir. Ebeveynler daha çok zaman bulduklarında çocuklarını farklı bir oyun parkına götürdüklerini (%38.8), oyun parklarında çoğunlukla salıncak (%100.0), kaydırak (%97.1) ve tahterevalli (%91.3) bulunduğunu ve %59.7’si de oyun parklarında oturmak ve oynamak için gölge alanların bulunduğunu ifade etmektedirler. Ebeveynler park seçiminde öncelikle parkın evlerine yakınlığına ( %37.4) ve güvenli bir yerde olmasına (%36.6) dikkat ettiklerini belirtmektedirler. Ailelere parklarda yaşanan kazaların nedenlerine ilişkin düşünceleri sorulduğunda aileler kazaların çoğunlukla “çocukların dikkatsizliği”, “oyun aletlerinin güvenli olmamasından” ve “ailelerin ilgisizliğinden” kaynaklandığını belirtmektedirler. Ailelerin oyun parkları ile ilgili beklentileri sorulduğunda, aileler oyun parklarında bol çeşitte ve güvenli materyallerin olmasını, bu materyallerin çocukların yaşlarına uygun olarak planlanmasını ve düzenlenmesini ayrıca oyun parklarında güvenlik görevlilerinin bulunmasını istediklerini belirtmişlerdir.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the problems that parents with children between 3 and 6 years old have about the characteristics of playgrounds such as the quality of the materials the size and the safety of playgrounds The sample of the study consists of parents with children between 3 and 6 year old who attend a pre school institution in the city center of Adana 139 participants 100 mothers and 39 fathers participated in this study voluntarily An inventory form designed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool The inventory comprised of two parts In the first part of the inventory there was personal information of the participant parents and in the second part of the inventory there were some questions intended for determining to what extent these parents’ children get benefit of playgrounds and the problems that parents encounter and their expectations from playgrounds The analysis based on the frequency proportions of the inventories showed that 48 2 of the parents went to playgrounds with their children one or two days a week 48 9 of them spent nearly one hour in playgrounds The parents stated that they take their children to different playgrounds when they have more time 38 8 there are mostly swings 100 0 slides 97 1 and seesaws 91 3 in those playgrounds 59 7 of the parents indicated that there are shades in playgrounds The parents expressed that they take the closeness of the playground 37 4 and being located in a safe environment 36 6 into consideration while choosing a playground When the parents were asked about the reasons of the accidents which happened in playgrounds they expressed that the accidents mostly caused from “the carelessness of the children” “unsafe playground materials” and “indifference of the parents” When the expectations of the parents were investigated it was seen that they wanted a great variety and safety in playground materials In addition they expect that these materials are appropriately planned and designed for the age range of the children and there should be security guards in parks Key Words: Playgrounds Playground 3 6 Year old Children
