Bu çalışmanın amacı, İstanbul Menkul Kıymetler Borsası (İMKB) gıda sektöründe kote olan şirketlerin finansal başarısızlık riskini belirlemek amacıyla güvenilir bir model geliştirmektir. Bu şirketlerin finansal olarak başarılı olup olmadıklarının belirlenmesinde Altman Z Score kriteri esas alınmıştır. Şirketlerin finansal başarısının incelenmesi amacıyla 19 tane finansal rasyo belirlenmiştir. Bu rasyolar, tekli ve çoklu istatistiksel analize tabi tutularak modelde kullanılacak 6 rasyo belirlenmiştir. Geliştirilen modelin %90,9 doğruluk oranına sahip olduğu saptanmıştır. Çalışmada uygulanan diskriminant analizine göre gıda sektöründe faaliyet gösteren şirketlerin finansal başarısının belirlenmesinde aktif karlılık oranı ile borç-özkaynak oranının etkin olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The purpose of the study is to develop a reliable model for determining company’s financial distress risk which was quoted to the food sector in Istanbul Stock Exchange Market. The Altman Z Score criterion was used for determination of if these companies were financially successful or not. 19 financial ratios were determined to examine the companies’ financial success. From these ratios, 6 ratios were determined that will be used for the model with using single and multiple statistical analysis. Accuracy of the developed model was found 90.9%. According to discriminant analysis that was used for the study, return on assets and debt-equity rate were effective for determining the companies’ financial distress in the food sector.
