Interaction of Thorium Tetrachloride With Nitrogen and Oxygen Organic Donors

Thorium tetrachloride reacts with organic compounds containing nitrogen or oxygen atom, to give cpmplex compounds of the type ThClj, nL, where n = 1, 1.5 or 2 and L = Djphenylp- hosphino ethane dioxide, diphenylphosphino mpthane dioxide, dimethyl-o-phenanthrolme, bipyridyl, dimethyl-bipyridyl, tripyridyl, pyridine N-oxide, dipyridyl amine and picolinic acid. Some öf these complexes contain coordinated water moleculeş. The reaction with triethyl phosp- hate gave the complex, Th ((EtO)2P02)4. 1 -No adducts have been obtained from the reaction of thorium tetrachloride with some or¬ganic phosphorus ligands. Infrâred spectra, thermal stability and conductivity of the formed coınplexes are discussed.
