Ebeveynlerin % 66.8’i çocuk için alternatif tedavi kullanmıştı.

Use of Alternative Treatment Methods in Children with Asthma Bronchiale in Our Region

Aim: In this study, we aimed to define the reasons and the rate of alternative treatment practices in our area. Methods: This study has been performed between March 2009 and April 2009 in our Asthma and Allergy outpatient clinic. Parents are questioned, patient files are evaluated retrospectively and data are recorded in prepared forms. 253 children with asthma, followed up at least one year are included in the study. Results: Among 253 patients, 33.6 % was female, and 66.4 % was male. Mean age was 8.4±3.7 years. Mean follow up period was 4.2±2.9 years. 66.8 % of the parents had used alternative treatments for their children. There was no statistically significant relation between satisfaction from medical treatment and consumption of alternative treatment p>0.05 . The mean follow-up period of the children using alternative treatment methods was significantly higher than those who did not use them p
