Sonuç: Her iki egzersiz şiddetinin sağlıklı gençlerde sağlığın geliştirilmesinde uygun olabileceği sonucuna ulaşıldı. Gelecekteki araştırmaların, çalışmamızda kullanılan egzersiz protokollerini geniş popülasyonlar ile farklı yaş dekatlarında uygulaması gerektiği görüşüne varıldı.

Assessment of a bout of moderate and vigarous aerobic exercise on cardiovascular responses in young adults

Objective: Intensity, duration and frequency of the effective physical activity in healthy population has not been determined yet. The purpose of the this study was to assess the cardiovascular response to a bout of moderate and vigorous intensity aerobic exercise in healthy young adults. Methods: Eighty five volunteers (50 boy; 35 girl; age range 18-24 years) were recruited. Moderate intensity (5 km/h; 30 minutes; brisk walking), vigorous intensity (8 km/h; 20 minutes; jogging) and control (30 minutes; sitting) groups were established. Systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), heart rate (HR) and double product (DP) responses to exercise were estimated. Results: There were differences between the first and second, and the first and third measurements of SBP in the control group (p<0.05). There were differences between the first and second, and the second and third HR measurements of the first group and in HR measurements of the second group (p<0.05). There were differences between the first and second, and the second and third DP values of the first group and in DP values of the second group (p<0.05). Measurements of HR and DP were different between groups (p<0.05). Third measurements of HR were different between groups (p<0.05). There were differences between the first and second, and the second and third DP values (p<0.05). There was a moderate positive correlation (0.3<r0.07; p<0.05). Conclusion: It is concluded that both exercise intensities could be appropriate for health promotion in healthy young adults. It is deduced that the exercise protocol of this study should be used on large populations with different ages in future researches.
