Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, bireyin hayatını olumsuz etkileyen okul devamsızlığının nedenlerini ve olası çözüm yollarını, yönetici ve öğretmen görüşlerine göre belirlemektir. Nitel yaklaşımın kullanıldığı araştırmada, katılımcılara iki açık uçlu soru yöneltilmiştir. Uşak ilinde yer alan meslek liselerinde görev yapan 24 okul yöneticisinin (müdür ve müdür yardımcısı), bu liselerde görev yapan 8 rehber öğretmenin ve 20 meslek dersi öğretmeninin katıldığı araştırmada dokuz grup oluşturulmuş ve her grubun görüşleri alınmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre, okul devamsızlığının en önemli nedeni, eğitim sisteminin kendisinden kaynaklanan nedenlerdir. Başlıca devamsızlık nedenlerinin, yönetmeliklerle öğrencilere sağlanan devamsızlık hakkı ve meslek liselerinin müfredatlarının ağır olmasından kaynaklandığı görülmüştür. Katılımcılara göre devamsızlığın çözümü için öncelikle ilgili yönetmelik ve müfredat programlarının yeniden düzenlenmesi gerekmektedir

The main purpose of this study is to determine the causes of school absenteeism which negatively affect the lives of individual sand possible solutions according to principles’ and teachers’’ opinions. In the research, which is used qualitative approach participants were asked two open-ended questions. The participants were 24 principles (directors and assistant director), 8 counselors and 20 teachers who work in vocational high schools in Uşak. In the research, nine groups were formed and the opinions of the groups were taken. According to research’s findings, the most important causes of school absenteeism were due to reasons of the education system itself in this kind of high schools. The heavy curricula of the vocational high schools and the right of absenteeism to students with regulations were found to be the major causes of absenteeism.
