Ocak atmosferinde metan varlığı ve etkilerinin bilinme»i çok önemlidir. DAVY lambasının Kullanı­ ma girdiği 1816 yılından beri gazlı ocaklarda ocak emniyet lambası bu nedenle kullanılmaktadır. Bu yazıda ocak emniyet lambasının tanımı, lambanın testi, lambaların bakımı, kullanılması, çalış­ tırılması ve dikkat edilme» gereken diğer konulara önem verilmiştir.

Flame safety lamp» have been used for the purpose of detecting methane in gassy mine» since the DA VY lamp was put into service in 1816. In the paper, considerable attention is directed to the flame safety lamp», »uch as testing of flame safety lamps, care of lamp», operation and use of lamp» and method* of detecting methane and the important precaution» to be taken.
