Yöneylem araştırması, deterministik (kesin olarak hesaplanabilen) ve probabilistik (tahmini olarak hesaplanabilen) sistemlerin modellenmesi ve bu sistemlerin optimum olarak çalışmalarını sağlama amacıyla kullanılmaktadır. Bu yazıda, madencilik endüstrisindeki yöneylem araştırması uygulamalarında kullanılan en yaygın teknikler, en önemli uygulama alanları ve bu uygulamaların gelecekteki eğilimini öngören geniş bir lite­ratür taramasının sonuçları sunulmaktadır
