WC/(Ta+W) Çok Tabakalı Kaplanmış SiAlON Matkap Uçlarının Karbon Fiber Takviyeli Polimer (CFRP) Kompozitlerin Delme Operasyonlarındaki Performansları

Talaşlı imalat sürecinde kullanılan karbür esaslı kesici takım malzemelerinin takım ömrünü arttırmada kesme yüzeyinde fiziksel ve kimyasal buhar biriktirme (sırasıyla PVD ve CVD) gibi yöntemler ile sert seramik kaplamaların uygulanması oldukça yaygındır. Bu çalışmada, PVD yöntemi kullanılarak, WC/(Ta+W) malzemesi ile kaplanmış SiAlON seramik matkap uçlarında kaplamanın yapısı, bağlanma mukavemeti ve performansa etkileri araştırılmıştır. Sonuçlar, kaplama tabakası WC/(Ta+W) ile SiAlON altlık ara yüzeyindeki bağlanma mukavemetinin yetersiz olduğunu göstermiş, bu nedenle de kaplamanın takımların kesme performansına herhangi bir etkide bulunmadığı belirlenmiştir.

The Perfomance of WC-/(Ta+C) Multilayer Coated SiAlON Drilling Tools on Drilling Operation of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) Composites

The application of hard ceramic coatings on cutting edges by physical and chemical vapor deposition (PVD and CVD, respectively) is a widely used technique to improve the life of the carbide based cutting tools in machining operations. In this study, structure, quality and effects on the cutting performance of WC/(Ta+W) coating layer on a SiAlON based drilling tool was investigated. The results showed that the bonding between coating layer WC/(Ta+W) and SiAlON substrate was insufficient and no improvement on the tool life was recorded by the application of coating on SiAlON drilling tools.
