Porous $SnO_2$ Synthesis and Characterization Using Yeast Cell as a Biotemplate

In this study, porous and nanostructured $SnO_2$ were synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis method using a biotemplate. Low-cost yeast cells were chosen as the biotemplate. The yeast cells were in the form of spheres with a diameter of 3-5 μm ensured that the produced $SnO_2$ structure was porous and high surface area. $SnO_2$ was deposited on the surface of yeast cell with using $SnCl_2.2H_2O$ as a precursor and then particles were calcined to remove yeast cells. The crystal structure, crystallites size, morphology, and surface area of the produced $SnO_2$ were studied. Hereby, $SnO_2$ powders with a crystal size of 20-25 nm were produced. High porosity structures with $110 m^2/g BET$ surface area were obtained.
