42 yıl bir derginin Yazıişleri Müdürlüğünü bugüne kadar aksatmadan başarı ile yürütmek her fani için erişilmeyecek bir mutluluktur. Sayın Yönetim Kurulumuzun, Sayın Uluğ iğdemir'in. 80 inci doğum günü dolayısı ile Belleten'in 170 inci sayısını kendisine armağan etme kararı cidden yerinde, büyük bir kadirbilirlik olmuştur. Sayın Uluğ İğdemir'i 40 yıldan beri tanırım. Onda bitmeyen, tükenmeyen, güçlükleri yenebilen bir çalışma gücü vardır. O zamanlar gayet mütevazi bir kadro ile, hatta tek başına diyebilirim, çalışırdı. Belleten gibi bir bilim dergisinin 42 yıl seçkin yazarları ile bugüne kadar büyük bir itina ile devamı kendisinin eseridir, payı büyüktür. Denetleme Kurulu üyesi olarak kendisi ile yakın temasım vardır. Titiz, disiplinli, ciddi çalışması karşısında daima kıvanç duymuşumdur. Belleten, yurtta ve dışarıda bizi bilim alanında en iyi tanıtan bir dergidir. Belleten, Kurum'umuzun yıkılamayacak bir anıtıdır. Sayın Uluğ İğdemir'in 80 inci yaş yıl dönümünü kutlarken, genç kuşaklara en güzel örnek olacak çalışmasını, sağlıkla, aynı başarı ile Kurum'umuza hizmette devam etmesini dilerim

Nimet Özgüç, The Anatolian Group of Cylinder Seal Impressions from Kültepe, Ankara, 1965 (hereafter AnatGr). Although few specific references will be made to this book, its content, observations and conclusions will be implicit throughout this paper. For example, I do not indicate earlier studies of the style of the Kültepe impressions as they are giyen fully in AnatGr, p. 45, to which add Mebrure Tosun, "Styles in Kültepe Seal Engraving as Expressions of Various Cultural Influences," in Studies in Honor of Benno Landsberger on His Seventy - fifth Birthday, April 21, 1965 (Oriental Institute Publications, Assyriological Studies, 16), Chicago, 1965, pp. 183-188.
