Bu araştırmanın amacı Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde drama yöntemi ile öğretimin ortaokul öğrencilerinin; sosyal beceri, empatik beceri ve akademik başarı düzeylerine etkisi olup olmadığının incelenmesidir. Araştırmada “Solomon dört gruplu araştırma modeli” kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu 127 yedinci sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma gruplarının oluşturulmasında seçkisiz olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden uygun örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Sosyal Bilgiler derslerinde sürdürülen çalışmada deney gruplarında yöntem olarak drama, kontrol gruplarında ise geleneksel öğretim yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Empatik Beceri Ölçeği B Formu, Sosyal Beceri Ölçeği ve Akademik Başarı Testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; drama yöntemiyle işlenen sosyal bilgiler dersinin geleneksel öğretim yöntemiyle işlenen derse göre sosyal beceri, empatik beceri ve akademik başarıyı arttırmada daha etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. 

The purpose of this study is to examine whether the education with drama method in social sciences affects social ability levels, empathic ability levels and academic achievements of 7th graders or not. “Solomon four-group research model” was used in the research. Work group of the research composes from 127 seventh graders. In creating work groups, appropriate sampling was used. In the study conducted in social sciences, the method used in experiment groups was drama, whereas the method used in control groups was traditional education. Data collection tool of the research was Social Ability Scale, Empathic Ability Scale B Form and Academic Achievement Tests was used. According to the research results; It was concluded that the social studies course taught with drama method is more effective in increasing social skills, empathic skills and academic success compared to the course taught with traditional teaching methods.
