Çocukların Maruz Kaldığı Kötü Muamele Bulgularının Diş Hekimliği Açısından Değerlendirilmesi

Çocuk istismarı ve ihmali evrensel bir sorundur ve farkındalığın artırılması, bunu dünya çapında azaltmak için ilk adımdır. Çocuk istismarı vakalarının büyük bir çoğunluğunda boyun, baş ve yüz bölgelerinde yaralar oluşmaktadır. İstismar neticesinde yüz ve çene kemiklerinde kırıklar, dişlerde avülsiyon, kırık veya lüksasyonlar; alveolar ve yanak mukozası, dil, diş eti, dudaklar, damak ya da frenilumlarda yanık ya da delici ve ezici yaralanmalar meydana gelmektedir. Diş hekimlerinin yapacağı değerlendirmeler, istismar ve ihmal vakalarının tanısı ve bildirilmesi noktasında önem taşımaktadır. Bilinçli ve özenli bir intraoral ve ekstraoral bir muayene yapılması ihmal ve istismar kaygısı oluşturan tüm vakalarda gerekir. Literatür taranarak hazırlanan derlemede çocuk istismarı ve ihmali olgularının oral bulguları ve şüpheli vakalarda izlenecek yollar üzerinde durulmaktadır.

Evaluation of Child Abuse Findings in Terms of Dentistry

Child abuse and neglect is a universal problem and raising awareness is the first step towards reducing it worldwide. In the majority of child abuse cases, wounds occur in the neck, head and face regions. Fractures in the face and jaw bones, avulsions, fractures or luxations in the teeth as a result of abuse; burning or penetrating and crushing injuries occur in alveolar and buccal mucosa, tongue, gingiva, lips, palate or frenulum. Evaluations by dentists are important for the diagnosis and reporting of abuse and neglect cases. A conscious and careful intraoral and extraoral examination is required in all cases of concern for neglect and abuse. In the review prepared by scanning the literature, oral findings of child abuse and neglect cases and the ways to be followed in suspicious cases are emphasized.
