The effects of salinity and drought on onion production

The importance of abiotic stress factors, depending on the global warming, has been prominently appeared accompany with irregular climate data in recent years. Among them the most effective factors for the onion (Allium cepa L.) production are soil salinity and drought. The onion is most sensitive vegetable in all plants against to soil salinity. In addition, water demand of onion is very critical at certain growing stage. In this owerviev, at the onion production, the effects of salinity and drought have been compiled from various studies.
