The Anatomical, Palynological and Micromorphological Investigations of Elaeagnus angustifolia L. ve Hippophae rhamnoides L. subsp. caucasica Rousi (Elaeagnaceae) Taxa

Abstract: Elaeagnus angustifolia L. is a naturalized Eurasian tree found along waterways in many arid and semi-arid parts of the world. Hippophae rhamnoides (L.) A.Nelson is a flowering shrub with wide distribution in cold temperate regions of Asia and Europe. This study was carried out in order to contribute to the taxonomy of the genera by examining the anatomical, palynological and trichome micromorphological features of E. angustifolia and H. rhamnoides subsp. caucasica taxa in the family Elaeagnaceae. Within the scope of anatomical studies of taxa, root, stem and leaf cross sections were taken and dyed with safranin fast-green method. When the anatomical features of taxa were examined, it was determined that they had the characteristic features of a dicotyledon plant with a secondary structure. It was determined that E. angustifolia leaves were bifacial and H. rhamnoides subsp. caucasica leaves were ecvifacial. Pollens of E. angustifolia are suboblate, ornamentation psilat-verrucate. The pollen shape of H. rhamnoides subsp. caucasica is prolate-spheroidal, ornamentation verrucate-rugulate. It has been observed that the trichomes of E. angustifolia and H. rhamnoides subsp. caucasica are of the peltate, stellatepeltate type.
