ÇİVİ YAZILI BELGELERE GÖRE ESKİ MEZOPOTAMYA’DA KUVARS GRUBU’NDAN BAZI TAŞLAR VE ÖZELLİKLER

Yerkabuğunda doğal olarak bulunan kuvars taşları, bünyesinde farklı mineralleri içerebilmesinden ötürü geniş bir yelpazede renk çeşitliliği sunar. Bu yapısal özellik taşların büyüleyici ve albenili olmasını sağlar. Mezopotamyalıların söz konusu gruptan bazı taşları iyi bir şekilde tanıdığı, özellikle de bantlı agat türlerini noktalarına ve şeritlerine kadar ayırt edebildiği görülür. Bazı taşlar ise eril ve dişil olarak cinsiyete sahip bir şekilde isimlendirilmiştir. Kuvars taşları hem renk harmonisi hem de üzerinde işlem yapılarak karakteristik bir nitelik kazanması gibi özelliklerinden ötürü ön plana çıkmıştır. Bu kıymetli taşların Eski Mezopotamya uygarlıklarında yoğun olarak kullanıldığı, özellikle ḪAR.ra=ḫubullû Serisi, Abnu šikinšu Serisi ve Lugal.e Mitosu gibi mineraloji ve petroloji alanlarına yönelik bilgi sağlayan kayıtlar sayesinde aydınlatılmıştır. Literatüre Kuvars Grubu olarak geçmiş taşlar içerisinde özellikle yedi taşın inceleneceği bu çalışmada çivi yazılı kayıtlar doğrultusunda yapılan analizlere göre taşların tanımları, türleri, kullanım alanları ve mineralojik özellikleri üzerinde durulacaktır.

According to Cuneiform Documents, Some Stones from the Quartz Group in Ancient Mesopotamia and Their Properties

Quartz stones, which are naturally found in the earth's crust, offer a wide range of color variations due to the fact that they may contain different minerals in their structure. This structural feature makes the stones fascinating and attractive. It happens that the Mesopotamians knew some stones from the group in question well, in particular, they were able to distinguish banded types of agate by their speckles and stripes. Some stones, on the other hand, are called masculine and feminine in a gendered way. It is understood that quartz stones come to the fore both because of their multicolor and harmony and because of their properties, such as the fact that they acquire a characteristic quality by processing them. Thanks to the documents which provide mineralogy and petrology like fields such as ḪAR.ra=ḫubullû Series, Abnu šikinšu Series, and Lugal.e Myth, with information, it has been projected that these precious stones were used by ancient Mesopotamian civilizations. In this study which will, particularly, be observed the seven stones that are assumed as Quartz Group stones in literature, the meanings, types, usage areas and mineralogical features of the stones will be focused by means of the analysis in line with cuneiform documents.
