Rare Fungal Infections in Patients Without Hematologic Malignancies: Two Case Reports

Trichosporon asahii and Geotrichum capitatum are rare opportunistic f ungal pathogens particularly in seriously immu- nosuppressed patients, such as bone marrow transplant recipients. Neutropenia related with hematological malignancy is the primary predisposing risk f actor f or disseminated cases of these f ungal inf ections. Here, one non-neutropenic patient with urinary tract inf ection caused by T.asahii and other non-neutropenic patient with f ungemia associated with urinary tract inf ection caused by G.capitatum have been reported.
