Four phases of medical action
The goal of this system is to improve the quality of patient care while decreasing the cost of patient care. It consists of four phases of medical action: 1- data-base, 2- problem definition, 3- formulation of plans, and 4- formulation of followup plans to further refine the solution of problems. Proper use of the four phases of medical action allows all observations, interpretations, and diagnostic or therapeutic procedures to be correlated with specific problems, and allows management of each problem in context with all other problems. The system fosters communication and coordination.
