Ankara ili' nde kafes kuşu dışkılarından termofilik Campylobacter izolasyonu

Bu çalışmada, Ankara İli'nde bulunan kafes kuşlarına ait dışkı örneklerinden termofilik Campylobacter türlerinin izo­lasyonu amaçlandı. Ankara'da bulunan çeşitli kuşhaneler ve pet shoplar ziyaret edildi ve izolasyon amacıyla kuşların değişik sayılar­da bulunduğu kafeslerden kanaryalara ait 119, muhabbet kuşlarına ait 9 ve papağanlara ait 2 adet dışkı örneği toplandı. Toplam 130 dışkı örneğinin 14'ü (% 11) termofilik Campylobacter türleri yönünden pozitif olarak saptandı. Kanaryalara ait 119 dışkı örneğinden 10'u (% 8), muhabbet kuşlarına ait 9 dışkı örneğinden 4'ü (% 44) termofilik Campylobacter türleri yönünden pozitif olarak bulundu. Papağanlara ait dışkı örneklerinde ise Campylobacter türleri tespit edilemedi. Kanaryalardan izole edilen 10 Campylobacter susunun 7'si (% 70) C.jejuni, 3'ü (%30) C. coli; muhabbet kuşlarından izole edilen 4 Campylobacter susunun 3'ü (% 75) C.jejuni, l'i (%25) C. coli olarak identifiye edildi.

Isolation of thermophilic Campylobacter spp. from feces of cage birds in the city of Ankara

The aim of this study was to isolation of thermophilic Campylobacter spp. from feces samples of cage birds in the city of Ankara. Several aviaries and pet shops were visited in Ankara. The feces samples were collected from cages in which various number of birds could be found. 119 feces samples of canaries, 9 feces samples of budgerigars and 2 feces samples of parrots were collected to isolate thermophilic Campylobacter strains. In 130 total number of feces samples, 14 (11 %) were found positive for thermophilic Campylobacter strains. Also, 10 of 119 (8 %) of canaries and 4 of 9 (44 %) of budgerigars were found positive. None of the feces samples of parrots had Campylobacter strains. 10 Campylobacter strains were isolated from canaries, of which 7 (70 %) were C.jejuni and 3 (30 %) were C. coli. 4 Campylobacter strains were isolated from budgerigars, of which 3 (75 %) were C.jejuni and 1 (25 %) was C. coli.
