MANAGERS’ APPROACHES TO EXPORT AS DETERMINANT OF EXPORT PERFORMANCE

This study aims at investigating the change in attitudes towards exporting from 1998 to 2002 in Turkey. Drawing on the data obtained from a sample of 581 exporting companies it was found that the manager’s attitudes towards exporting became more positive during the period. Also, a relationship was found between the attitudes and export performance. The results of the study reveals that the following six factors have impact upon export performance: Export strategy, perceived status of the business, expected export profits, export risk, production and marketing conditions, and economic variables
