Avustralya, işçi hareketinin ve bu hareketin faaliyetlerinin özellik arz ettiği ülkelerden biridir. 1927 yılında kurulan ACTU, ülkenin tek üst işçi örgütüdür. 20 ayrı işkolunda faaliyet gösteren 47 işçi sendikası bu örgüte bağlıdır. Sendikalaşma oranı bu ülkede 2002 yılı itibarıyla % 25’tir. Sendikaların en fazla önem verdikleri etkinliklerin başında doğal olarak toplu iş sözleşmeleri gelmektedir. ACTU ve üye işçi sendikalarının eğitim ve yayın faaliyetleri de çok dikkat çekicidir. Bu kuruluşların özellikle ekonomik faaliyetleri, geleneksel sendika hareketinin tanımının dışına çıkmaktadır. Diğer ilgi çekici faaliyetleri olan yönetime katılma, ekonomik, sosyal ve baskı grubu faaliyetleri de çok etkin olarak devam etmektedir.

Australia State is much interesting state, especially, about trade union activities. ACTU is the only top organisation in this country. It was built in 1927 and 47 unions are affiliated it which they are 21 different industry branches. It has adopted exist economic liberal economic regime. It is considered much respectably in international trade union organisations and their affiliations as important trade unions organisations. It is much affected on its country workers and the Government. Trade unionism rate is about % 25 at this time. Collective agreements are much important in Australia labour organisations as well as other western democratic states. They have training and publishing bodies to serve their members. Other activities of trade unions of this Country’s are participation of management and administration. Going on strike after dispute of collective bargaining is it’s activities too. ACTU’s economic activities are much important. Because the terminology of trade union has shown that it is organisation which presents workers. But ACTU is boss of them as well as it represents them. Other activities of are social activities and pressure group activities.
