Canine Gait Types

Background/Aim: Understanding the locomotion or gait in dogs is important in the diagnosis and treatment of many orthopaedic and neurological problems. It is also valuable to know the gait types of the dog, for the design of orthoses or prostheses used in the treatment of various orthopaedic diseases. In this review, the normal walking types and the effect of the body shape on the canine locomotion are explained. Conclusion: This information can help clinicians in the diagnosis and treatment of some orthopaedic diseases of extremities.
