Blood plasma Zn, Ca, K, Mg and Cu levels at insemination in conceived and non-conceived Jersey and Holstein cows

In this study, 12 Holstein cows at Samsun Gelemen State Farm and 13 Jersey cows at Karaköy State Farm were used. The aim of the study was to determine blood plasma Zn, Ca, K, Mg and Cu levels of conceived and non-conceived cows. Blood plasma Zn concentrations .were, for Jersey cows 32.56±1.94 $\mu$ mol/1 in conceived and 26.57±0.54 $\mu$ mol/1 in non-conceived Jersey cows, while the same values in Holstein cows were 31.82±1.77 and 27.19 $\mu$ mol/1 respectively. The results show that plasma Zn concentrations are higher in cows conceived than those in cows non-conceived. Additionally blood plasma K/Zn and Cu/Zn ratios in both breed significantly differed (P<0.01) between conceived and non-conceived cows.
