Ulusal Otel Yöneticilerinin Uluslararası Otel Yöneticiliğine Bakışı ve Tutumları
Bu çalışmada uluslararası otel yöneticiliği üzerine bir irdeleme yapmak ve Antalya’daki 5 yıldızlı otel işletmelerinde görev yapan ulusal otel yöneticilerinin uluslararası otel yöneticiliğine bakışını ve tutumlarını ölçmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda literatür taramasına dayanarak soru formları geliştirilmiş ve on yedi otelde görev yapan otel yöneticilerine dağıtılmıştır. Geri dönüşü sağlanan 72 adet form değerlendirmeye alınmış ve otel yöneticilerinin çoğunluğunun yurt dışı deneyimi olmamasına karşın yurt dışında çalışma konusunda istekli oldukları saptanmıştır. Ayrıca ulusal otel yöneticilerinin uluslararası otel yöneticiliğine bakışını ve tutumlarını oluşturan ve yabancılarla bir arada çalışabilme; farklı kültürlerde çalışmanın zorluklarına tolerans; yurt dışında çalışma motivasyonu ve yurt dışında çalışma deneyiminden beklentiler şeklinde adlandırılan dört boyutun varlığı da saptanmıştır. Çalışmanın son kısmında araştırma bulgularının ışığında, ulusal otel yöneticilerinin uluslararası görevlere atanması ile ilgili yönetsel doğurgulara yer verilmiştir.
The Attitutedes and Perceptions of National Hotel managers Towards International Management
This paper aims to examine the concept of international hotel manager and to measure the attitudes and perceptions of national hotel managers towards international hotel management. In this respect, a survey instrument was developed and administered to managers in seventeen hotels in Antalya region. The assesment of 72 questionnaires revealed that most of the managers have not experience in foreign hotel assignments, however, they are willing to work abroad. It is determined four dimensions that constitute the attitudes and perceptions of managers towards international hotel management and they are denominated as ability to work together with foreigners; tolerance to difficulties of working in different cultures, motivation to foreign assignment and expection of experience of foreign assignment. At the end of the paper, the implications of findings for international managers are discussed in detail.
