Trombositopeni, kronik viral hepatitlerin tedavisinde kullanılan pegile interferonların neden olduğu komplikasyonlardan birisidir. İnterferonlar ayrıca immün sistem üzerinden, hayatı tehdit edici kanamalara neden olabilecek otoimmün trombositopeniye, daha nadiren de hemolitik anemiye neden olabilirler. Literatürde pegile interferonlarla tetiklenmiş Evans sendromu sadece bir olguda bildirilmiştir. Bu olguya kronik viral hepatit C nedeniyle PEG-İFN tedavisi verilmiştir. Literatürde PEG-İFN tedavisi sırasında Evans sendromu gelişen, başka bir hepatit B'li olguya rastlanmamıştır.

Pegylated interferons used in the treatment of chronic viral hepatitis may lead to thrombocytopenia. Interferons also affect immune system and cause to either autoimmune thrombocytopenia (AIT) that can cause life-threatening bleedings, and rarely to autoimmune hemolytic anemia. In the literature, there is only one case of Evans syndrome, AIT plus autoimmune hemolytic anemia, induced by pegylated interferon in a chronic viral hepatitis C. Here, we present induction of Evans syndrome in a patient with chronic viral hepatitis B.
