Investigation of Rheological Properties of Al6061 Alloy Powders
In this study, the most appropriate binder system for metal injection molding processof Al6061 alloy powder was determined by rheological experiments of it. Melt flowindex‐temperature and viscosity‐temperature variations were determined fordifferent temperatures and constant load in experimental studies performed by fourdifferent feedstocks. In experiments, three different polymer binders as main, skeleton and lubricant were used. These binder systems were granulated byhomogenous mixing with Al6061 alloy powder in certain proportions by volume. Themost powder loading and the least binding rate one within feedstocks according toflow‐behavior properties draw attention. Based on the performed experimentalstudies, it was determined that 54% Al6061 alloy powder in volume and the feedstockconsisting of PEG8000/PW/SA binder system can demonstrate the smooth flowproperties in powder injection molding.
