INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECTS OF SMOKING ON GAIT IN THE CASE WITH SPINOCEREBELLAR ATAXIA
Aim: The aim of this study was to examine the acute effects of smoking on walking withspinocerebellar degeneration associated ataxia.Materials and Method: Demographic information, illness and cigarette story of case were recorded. Before and immediately after cigarette smoking gait analysis was performed with footprint method. To measure the walking speed, 10 meters walking tast used. In addition, the InternationalCooperative Ataxia Rating Scale was used. The Berg Balance Scale was used to determine the risk offalling. Results: It was seen that decreased step length, increased step width, decreased velocity and tempoafter cigarette smoking of the case with spinocerebellar ataxia with walking and balance disorders. Conclusion: Because of the risk of falling is high after cigarette smoking while the risk of falling ismoderate, it was recommended not to participate in mobility activities immediately after smoking orcessation smoking.
