Prostat Biyopsisi Sonrası Gelişen Kinolon Dirençli

Üroloji pratiğinde tanı amaçlı ultrasonografi eşliğinde transrektal prostat biyopsisi TPB sıkça kullanılmaktadır. Hastalarda ağrı, hematüri ve üriner infeksiyon gibi komplikasyonlar gelişebilmektedir. Kinolonlar, TPB proflaksisinde yıllardır güvenle kullanılmaktadır. Ancak günümüzde birçok antibiyotiğe olduğu gibi kinolonlara da artan oranda direnç gözlenmekte olup profilakside alternatif ilaçlar düşünülmelidir. Bu yazıda, etkin ve yeterli dozda siprofloksasin almasına karşın, TPB sonrası kinolon dirençli E.coli’nin etken olduğu sepsis gelişen olgu sunulmaktadır

Sepsis Due To Quinolone-Resistant Escherichia Coli After Transrectal Prostate Biopsy

Transrectal prostate biopsy TPB is frequently used for diagnosis in urological practice and complications such as hematuria, pain, voiding difficulty, asymptomatic bacteriuria, urinary infection are reported to occur. Quinolons have been used safely for TPB prophylaxis for many years. However, increasing resistance to quinolons, similar to many other antibiotics, may cause many problems in these patients too. In this paper, we present a patient with sepsis due to quinolone-resistant Escherichia coli after prostate needle biopsy despite to adequate and reliable oral ciprofloxacin prophylaxis
