Sigara İçen ve İçmeyen Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Sigara İçmeye İlişkin Tutumları

Bu çalışmada sigara içen ve içmeyenlerin sigaraiçmeye yükledikleri anlamlar arasındaki farkınönemi araştırılmaktadır. Çalışmaya KaradenizTeknik Üniversitesinden 450 öğrenci katılmıştır.Katılımcıların 248’i bayan 202’ si erkek olup yaşları18 ile 27 arasında değişmektedir (Ort = 21.72,Ss = 1.45). Araştırma grubundakilerin 185’ı(% 41.11) sürekli sigara içicisi iken, 265’i (% 58.89)sigara içmemektedir. Sigara içmeye ilgili tutumlar15 serilik ifadelerden oluşan bir araçla ölçülmüştür.Ölçekte yer alan ifadeler sigara içmenin olumlu veolumsuz sonuçlarıyla ilgilidir. Elde edilen sonuçlarsigara içen ve içmeyenlerin sigara içmeninsonuçlarına farklı anlamlar yüklediklerini vesigaranın olumlu ve olumsuz sonuçlarına ilişkindeğişik işaretlemeler yaptıklarını göstermiştir. Sigaraiçenler sigaranın olumlu sonuçlarına, içmeyenler iseolumsuz sonuçlarına vurgu yapma eğilimisergilemişlerdir.

Attitudes Towards Smoking among Smoker and Non-smoker University Students

This study examines the meaning of attributed tosmoking between smokers and non-smokers. Fourhundred and fifty students of the KaradenizTechnical University participated in the study. Ageof respondents varied from 18 to 27 years (M =21.72, SD = 1.45); 248 were female, 202 weremale. In the present sample 185 participants werecurrently smokers (41.11 %) and 265 participantswere non-smokers (58.89 %). Attitudes towardssmoking were assessed by a series of 15statements. These attributes were negative andpositive consequences of smoking. Results showthat smokers and non-smokers differ in theirselection of important attributes, and vary in theimportance assigned to the positive and negativeoutcomes of smoking. Smokers tend to emphasizepositive outcomes and non-smokers tend toemphasize negative outcomes.
