Turizm sektöründe, teknolojinin ve bilgi dağıtımının etkin kullanımı büyük önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmada, zengin tarihi ve kültürel çekim merkezlerine sahip olan Ege Bölgesi için geliştirilen web tabanlı ve Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi (CBS) destekli bir turist rota planlayıcısı (Web-@ncient©) tasarımı sunulmuştur. Uygulamanın altyapısı, Virtual Earth Map platformu hizmetleri ile oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma, Ege bölgesindeki sekiz ilde (İzmir, Manisa, Aydın, Denizli, Muğla, Uşak, Kütahya ve Afyonkarahisar) bulunan 212 antik kenti kapsamakta olup Türkçe ve İngilizce olmak üzere iki farklı dil seçeneği ile hazırlanmıştır. Tasarlanan Web@ncient uygulaması, tarihi ve kültürel değerlere ilgi duyan kullanıcıları seyahat güzergâhı çevresindeki antik kentler hakkında bilgilendirerek, seyahatlerinin zaman ve gezi verimliliği açısından daha planlı ve keyifli geçmesini sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır

In tourism sector, the effective use of technology and distribution of information has great importance. In this study, we presented design and implementation of a web-based and Geographical Information System (GIS) aided tourist route planner (Web-@ncient©) developed for Turkish Aegean Region which has rich historical and cultural attractions. Application infrastructure created by Virtual Earth Map platform services. The study covers 212 ancient city in the eight provinces of Aegean region (Izmir, Manisa, Aydin, Denizli, Mugla, Usak, Kutahya and Afyon) with a choice of two different languages, including Turkish and English. Web-@ncient application aims to provide more planned and enjoyable trip for users who are interested in the historical and cultural attractions, by informing them about the ancient cities around the route of travel in terms of time and efficiency of trip
