Factors Affecting Iron Chlorosis Observed in Peach Trees in the Bursa region

This research was implemented to determine the factors causing iron chlorosis observed in peach trees in the Bursa region. For this purpose, four peach orchards having trees with various degrees of chlorosis were selected. Soil and leaf samples were collected during a two year period. According to the results, chlorophyll, total Fe and active Fe contents of the leaves were negatively correlated with soil pH and lime (CaCO 3 ) and the active lime content of the soils. Significant positive correlations were found between organic matter content of the soils and chlorophyll, total Fe and active Fe content of the leaves. In addition, available iron contents of the soils were positively correlated with silt, clay, organic matter, N, P, Zn and Mn contents of the soils and negatively correlated with sand, pH, lime and active lime contents of the soils. High soil pH, lime and active lime contents of the soils seem to be the soil factors causing iron chlorosis in peach trees in the region.
