SEVERAL PROBLEMS ABOUT THE TURKIC STONE STATUES

Turkic stone statues are found widely in the Eurasian steppes. They have attracted many sholars' attentions from the 18th century, because they are unique figures of various cultural elements: religion, funeral rite, hair style, costume, weaponry, daily commodities ofthe Turks. There are several controversial problems about the Turkic stone statues: their origin, chronology, typology, meaning, relation with a square stone enclosure, ete. They are correlated with each other. We must study them synthetically. In this paper I would like to make clear how much these problems have been solved or not. In other words, I will summarize the scientifıc results and present situations about them.
