ABD’nin Dış Politikasinda Dini Diskur ve Lobilerin Rolü

ABD dış politikası detaylı analiz ve çalışmalara konu olsa da, dış politikada din faktörünün rolü üzerine sistemli çalışmalar bilimsel tatmin açısından henüz arzu edilen bir düzeyde değildir. Bu çalışmanın amacı da, literatürdeki bu yöndeki boşluğu doldurmaya yönelik bir katkı sunabilmek, dolayısıyla Amerikan dış politikasında dinin rolü ve etkisi üzerine analitik bir tartışma ortaya koyabilmektir. Metodolojik açıdan çalışma, ABD başkanları ve ilgili politikacılarının söylemlerinin analizi ile diğer ikincil verilere dayanmaktadır. Çalışmaya, ABD’de din-siyaset etkileşiminin tarihsel arka planının irdelenmesiyle başlanmaktadır. Ardından, ABD siyasetinde Hristiyan sağ olarak tanımlanabilen Evanjelist doktrine, bu doktrin taraftarlarının nasıl bir ortamda ortaya çıktıklarına ve nasıl bir etki ortaya koyduklarına yer verilmektedir. Bu çerçevede ABD’deki Hristiyan sağ ile İsrail’deki sağcı Likud Partisi’nin yakınlaşması da ele alınmaktadır. Çalışma, Amerikan dış politikasının şekillenmesinde dinin yadsınamayacak bir rolünün olduğu, sonucuna ulaşmaktadır.

The Role of Religious Discourse and Lobies in US Foreign Policy

Although the US foreign policy has been subject to detailed analyses, the role of religion in the formation of the US foreign policy has rarely been studied. The purpose of this study is to contribute to filling this gap by discussing the connection between religion and the US foreign policy. As for methodology, the study relies on the discourse analysis of US leaders and utilizes other relevant data. The study starts with a brief historical background with respect to the interactions between religion and the state. Then, Evangelism and its impacts on the US foreign policy are discussed in detail. This is followed by a discussion on the effects of religious lobbies, especially the Jewish lobby that tends to shape the US foreign policy to a certain extent. The study reaches the conclusion that religion do have an effect on the formation of the US foreign policy but in the final analysis.
