Ecological dyeing with sulphur dyes

Sulfur dyes represent a broad shade range having good to excellent fastness to washing and light at relatively low costs. 90% of all the sulphur dyes are still reduced by means of sodium sulphide. A part of the total sodium sulphide is consumed during dyeing and rest stays in waste water, eventually acting as a contaminant. In this article, reduction methods for sulphur dyes are given and ecological dyeing methods are summarized.
