EXAMINING FACTOR STRUCTURE OF SERIOUS LEISURE INVENTORYSHORT FORM (18-ITEMS) FOR TURKEY SAMPLE: VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

The purpose of this study was the examination of validity and reliability of the Serious Leisure Inventory-Short Form (SLI-SF) (18-item) (Gould et al.; 2011) in Turkish. Three hundred and thirty amateur level football players aged between 16-38 (Xage = 20.64 +/- 5.69) participated in Turkey. The adaptation of the Serious Leisure Inventory-Short Form (18-Items) scale to Turkish has gone through certain stages. Firstly, linguistic equivalence study was carried out. The scale was then subjected to content validity, structural validity, convergent validity and discriminant validity analyses respectively. Besides, Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient tested for the reliability of the scale. The scores obtained from the validity and reliability tests as a result of the analyses conducted support the 3-factor structure of the SLI-SF with 18 items. As a result; It was concluded that the Serious Leisure Scale-Short Form (18-Item) is a measurement tool that provides psychometric qualities for measuring the serious leisure trends of the Turkish population.
