Hastalığın bakteri yükünün indirekt belirteçleri, nütrisyonel durum ile negatif korelasyon göstermektedir. Bu durum lezyonlardaki yüksek orandaki bakteri varlığının sonucunda salınan aşırı sitokinlerle ilgili olabilir. The link between tuberculosis and malnutrition has been recognized for many years. In this study, to describe nutritional status, body mass index (BMI), serum prealbumin, retinol binding protein (RBP), transferrin, patient and doctor delay, presence of cavity were investigated in 45 patients with new cases of smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis at diagno-sis. Fourty-five male smear-positive pulmonary tuberculosis cases (mean age 39.9 ±15.9 years) were enrolled in this study. Sixty percent of cases had low BMI (mean ± SD 19.7 ± 2.9 kg/m2). Mean prealbumin, RBP and transferrin levels were 1 3.89 ± 6.6 mg/dL, 2.26 ± 0.65 mg/dL and 166.3 ± 62.8 mg/dL, respectively. Prealbumin, RBP, transferrin were lo-wer than normal levels in 77.8%, 86.7% and 78% of patients, respectively. Total delay, the time between the beginning of the symptoms and the initiation of antituberculosis treatment (patient delay + doctor delay) was found 79.2 ± 65 days in our patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. Seventeen (37.8%) of them had cavity. There is no correlation between to-tal delay time and prealbumin, RBP and transferrin (p> 0.05), whereas there is a correlation statistically significant bet-ween total delay time and sputum smear grade (p< 0.05). The indirect indicators of bacterial burden of disease have ne-gative correlation with nutritional status. It may be related with the excessive cytokine release related with the high bac-terial existence in lesions."> [PDF] Yayma pozitif akciğer tüberkülozlu hastaların nütrisyonel durumu | [PDF] Nutritional status of smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis 0.05), yayma pozitiflik derecesi ile istatisliksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki mevcuttu (p< 0.05).
