INtroDuCtIoN: This study has been carried out as a descriptive research in order to determine the professional autonomy of nurses working at Nazilli State Hospital and the relevant effective factors.mEthoDS: The study was conducted between 03.06.2013 and 19.08.2013 at Nazilli State Hospital. Hundred and ninety-four nurses working at Nazilli State Hospital constituted the research population. The study aimed to include all of the nurses without choosing a sample group, however 184 nurses (94,8%) who accepted the survey constituted the sampling group. Data were retrieved from demographic data form and Nursery Activity Scale developed by Shutzenhofer (1992) whoso validity and reliability for our country were realized by Saraçoğlu (2010). Research data were evaluated by using standard deviation, mean, frequency distribution, Kolmogorov- Smirnov test, one-way ANOVA test and Student-t test.rESultS: Average score of the nurses according to Nursery Activity Scale (NAS) was 158.36±29.72 and autonomy level of the nurses has been evaluated to be of moderate degree (between 121 and 180 pts).
