Anlatı, Analiz ve Teori: Siyasi Tarih Araştırmalarına Farklı Yaklaşımlar

Bu makalenin amacı günümüzde farklı yaklaşımlarla ele alınan siyasi tarih alanında bir araştırmanın nasıl yapılabileceği ve bir makalenin nasıl yazılabileceği ile ilgili araştırmacıya genel bir kılavuz oluşturmaktır. Bu bağlamda çalışma siyasi tarihin geçirdiği dönüşümleri inceleyerek günümüzde alanın yekpare bir yapıda olmadığını göstermekte, dolayısıyla bu alanda farklı soru tipleri ve araştırma yöntemleri kullanılarak çeşitli eserler verilebildiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Makale genelde betimsel anlatıya dayanan siyasi tarih çalışmalarının teorik/kavramsal yaklaşımlarla da yapılabileceğini, her iki biçimde de analiz ve sebep-sonuç ilişkisinin önemli olduğunu vurgulamaktadır. 21. yüzyılda siyasi tarihin kaynaklarının çeşitliliğini ve ulaşılabilirliğini gösteren bu çalışma, bu kaynakları kullanırken ve sonrasında bir makale yazarken özellikle dikkat edilmesi gereken hususları da ortaya koymaktadır. Sonuç olarak, günümüzde farklı yaklaşımlarla siyasi tarih yazını üretilebileceğini, anlatının hâkim yerini korusa da analizin ve farklı alanlardaki teorilerin giderek önem kazandığını belirtmekte ve bu konuda çalışma yapmak isteyen araştırmacı için bir çerçeve oluşturmaktadır.

Narrative, Analysis and Theory: Different Approaches to Diplomatic History Research

This article aims to constitute a guideline for the researchers about making research and writing an article on diplomatic history, which has recently been approached with different methods. In this respect, it analyzes the transformation that the field has experienced so far and shows that diplomatic history has not been a monolithic research field nowadays. Thus, this study puts forward that it is now possible to formulate different set of questions and employ different research methods in this field. This article argues that diplomatic history, which is usually based on descriptive narratives, can also be done through theoretical/conceptual lenses, emphasizing the importance of causal analysis on both styles. Showing the diversity and accessibility of the historical resources in the 21st century, this article specifies the important matters regarding the utilization of these sources as well as the writing process of the study. Therefore, it establishes a framework for the researchers by analyzing different approaches to diplomatic history, which has still been dominated by narratives yet prone to change with theoretical understandings.
