Biyolojik, psikolojik ve sosyolojik bir varlık olarak insan, kendisiyle, çevresiyle ve tabiatla yetinmeyen bir varlıktır. İnsan, ilimle, felsefeyle, teknikle, sanatla, dinle, ahlakı değerleriyle, hukukla vs'le hem çevresini, hem de kendini değiştirip geliştirerek olgunlaştırmak gayreti içerisindedir. Öyleki insan, kainatın en seçkin varlığı olarak, tabiattan ilme ve kültüre, vahşilikten medeniyete, yanlıştan doğruya, kötüden iyiye, adaletsizlikten adalete, çirkinden güzele, hiddet ve acelecilikten sakinlik ve itidale, kibirlilikten alçak gönüllülüğe, aç gözlülükten tok gözlülüğe, nefsine hakim ola madan nefsine hakim olmaya, haramdan helale, dedikodudan sır saklamaya, hayasızlıktan hayalı olmaya, cefa ve zulümden vefa ve merhamete, düşmanlıktan dostluğa geçip u/aşarak yücelmenin ve mükemmel olmanın gayretiyle dolup taşmaktadır. Biz bu yazımızda, Kutadgu Bilig 'e göre, hangi varlığa insan dendiğine, bu varlığın niçin yaratıldığına, ne çeşit insanlar bulunduğuna, bir insanda bulunması gereken vasıfların neler olduğuna, insanın ölümlü olup olmadığına ve ayrıca insanın mükemmel insan olup olamayacağına cevap aramaya çalışacağız.
