Bu bildiride, ulaşılabilen sayılarından anlaşıldığı kadarıyla, 1334-1336 (1918-1920) yılları arasında yayımlanmış olan “Askerî Cerîde-i Baytarîyye” adlı derginin veteriner hekimliği tarihi açısından değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın materyalini, derginin Milli Kütüphanedeki “1973 SA 183” demirbaş numarası ile kayıtlı 19 sayısı oluşturmaktadır. Derginin ilk sayısı Haziran 1334 (Haziran 1918) tarihli, ulaşılabilen son sayısı ise Kânûn-i sânî 1336 (Ocak 1920) tarihli 19 numaralı sayıdır. İlk sayının girişinde yer alan “İfade-i Mahsusa” adlı yazıda derginin çıkarılış amacının, Balkan Harbi nedeniyle kesintiye uğramış olan dergi yayıncılığında, veteriner hekimliği alanına ilişkin açığı kapatmak olduğu belirtilmiştir. “Harbiye Nezareti Baytar Müfettiş-i Umumiliği” tarafından “Matbaa-i Askerîye”de basılmış olan “Askerî Ceride-i Baytariyye” aylık bir dergidir. Derginin adı, Teşrîn-i sânî 1335 (Kasım 1919) tarihli 17. sayıdan itibaren “Askerî Mecmua-i Baytariyye” olarak değiştirilmiştir. Yayın ömrünü “Askerî Mecmua-i Baytariyye” adıyla tamamladığı anlaşılan derginin 19 sayılık arşivinde tüberküloz, ruam ve kuduz gibi hastalıklar, döneme ilişkin at ve sığır varlığı, et muayenesi gibi bilimsel konular yanında biyografiler ve yurtdışındaki veteriner hekimliği eğitim kurumları hakkında bilgiler bulunmaktadır. This study aims to provide a historical evluation of veterinary surgeon of the journal titled “Askerî Cerîde-i Baytarîyye” (Military Veterinary Journal) and published between 1918 and 1920 based on the informations as far as concerned from the available issues. The main materials of the research consists of nineteen issues of the journal registered at the national library at the asset id number “1973 SA 183”. The first issue of the journal is June 1334 (June 1918) and the last available one is the nineteenth one titled Kânûn-i sânî 1336 (January 1920). The introductory article titled “İfade-i Mahsusa” (Special Statement), published in the first issue of the journal, indicates that the publication of the journal was aimed at closing the deficit of veterinary publications in the publishing sector, arising from the termination of the publishing business due to the break of the Balkan War. Published by the Veterinary Inspectorate of the Ministry of War and printed at the Military Printing House, the “Askerî Cerîde-i Baytarîyye” was a monthly journal. As from November 1919 and the publication of the 17th issue, the name of the journal was changed as “Askerî Mecmua-i Baytariyye”. The 19-issue archive of the journal, determined to have completed its publishing life under the name “Askerî Mecmua-i Baytariyye”, gave coverage to technical topics including the diseases tuberculosis, glanders and rabies, the equine and bovine population of the period, and meat inspection, as well as to biographies and information pertaining to overseas veterinary education institutions. In conclusion, it is suggested that the journal titled “Askerî Ceride-i Baytariyye” bears significance from the standpoint of the history of veterinary medicine.
