Sınır kişilik bozukluğunun suç ve şiddet ile ilişkisi: Bir gözden geçirme

Sınır kişilik bozukluğu; genç yetişkinlikte başlayan, kişilerarası ilişkilerde, benlik imgesinde ve duygulanımda dengesizlik ve belirgin dürtüsellik şeklinde birçok bağlamda kendini gösteren bir örüntü olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Sınır kişilik bozukluğunun ortalama popülasyonda yaygınlığının %1,6 ile %5,9 arasında olduğu tahmin edilmektedir. Suçlularla yapılan birçok araştırmada şiddet ve suç davranışı için belirlenen risk faktörleri arasında madde kötüye kullanımı ve genç erkek olmak ile birlikte sınır kişilik özellikleri de yer almaktadır. Mahkumların %25-%50'sinin sınır kişilik özellikleri gösterdiği bildirilmektedir. Öfkeyi, dürtüsel davranışları yönetmede, riskleri değerlendirmede düşük kapasite; dengesiz duygulanım, dürtüsellik ve reddedilme korkusu ile birleştiği zaman, şiddet ortamı açısından yüksek risk oluşmaktadır. Sınır kişilik bozukluğu sadece suç işleyen açısından değil suçtan etkilenen mağdur açısından da önem taşımaktadır. Sınır kişilik bozukluğu olan bireylerin hem çocukluk dönemlerinde hem de klinik gözlemler sonucunda görüldüğü üzere yetişkin yaşamlarında, mağduriyetin yaygın olduğu belirtilmektedir. Kişilerarası ilişkilerde güçlük yaşamalarından dolayı, sıklıkla kendilerini istismar ya da şiddet içeren ilişkilerin içinde bulmaktadırlar. Bu yazıda, sınır kişilik bozukluğu ve suç ile ilgili literatür incelenerek, sınır kişilik özellikleri ile suç ve şiddet arasındaki ilişki dürtüsellik, mağduriyet, cinsiyet farklılıkları, diğer psikopatolojilerle bağlantısı açısından ele alınmıştır.

Borderline Personality Disorder and Its Relation With Crime And Violence: A Review

Borderline personality disorder is a pattern beginning inearly adulthood, appearing in various context such asinstability in interpersonal relationships, self-image,affect and marked impulsivity. It is estimated that theprevalence of borderline personality disorder in mainpopulation is between 1.6 - 5.9 %. Borderline personality traits take place in the risk factors of crime and violence in addition to being young man and substanceabuse in many studies which were carried out with criminals. It is reported that 25-50 % of prisoners have borderline personality traits. High risk occurs in terms of violence environment when low capacity in managinganger responses, impulsive behaviors are combined withunstable affect, impulsivity and fear of abandonment.Borderline personality disorder is also important in termsof the victim who is effected from the crime.Victimization is common in both childhood and adulthood of borderline patients. Because of the difficulty ininterpersonal relationships, they often find themselves inrelationships which include violence and abuse. Violenceis a base for a victim turning him/her to a criminal. Socialpolitics and treatment approaches have importance todecrease violence and crime rates and brake the viciouscycle between being victim and perpetrator. Protectingthe criminals, who have been the victim at one point intheir life, from stigmatization is also important. In thisarticle, borderline personality traits and its connectionwith impulsivity, victimization, gender differences andcomorbidity with other psychopathological conditions interms of crime, will be stated
