A key challenge in gestational diabetes screening: resistance to oral glucose tolerance test screening and implications for neonatal health

Objective: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most common endocrine disorder in pregnancy and the number of pregnant women resistant to oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) has increased significantly in recent years. In this study, we investigated the extent of resistance to OGTT screening in pregnant women followed-up in our hospital and the effect of this situation on the newborn. Material and Method: Pregnant women and their babies who were followed up regularly for 25 months (December 1, 2015- December 31, 2017) in the obstetrics and gynecology clinic of our hospital were included in our study.
