Non-infectious Posterior Uveitis- Focal Choroiditis (Acute retinal pigment epithelitis, AZOOR, AMN, Ampiginous Choroiditis)

Non-infectious focal choroiditis consist of a group of intraocular inflammatory disorders of unknown etiology characterized by multiple well-circumscribed white focal lesions located in the deep layers of the retina, RPE and choroid. Although it is suggested that all these are really the expresssion of a single entity, it is important to establish the correct diagnosis in order to determine the visual prognosis due to their wide spectrum. In this article, symptoms, signs and treatment of acute retinal pigment epithelitis, acute zonal occult external retinopathy, acute macular neuroretinopathy and ampiginous choroiditis are discussed.
