Evaluation of energy efficiency in Kayseri Sugar Plant by method of energy and exergy analyses

In this study, the first (energy analysis) and second law (exergy analysis) of the thermodynamics for sugar production stages were analyzed by using the operational data from Kayseri Sugar Plant, Turkey in 2002–2003 campaign years. The energy and exergy analysis are very important for thermodynamics in the industrial plants. This analysis provide to increase energy efficiency of industrial production plants and to gain reuse of waste energy. The result of the energy and exergy analysis were employed for each case going in and out to all sugar production stages, as a steady-state open thermodynamics system. Depending on this result, the first and second law efficiencies of sugar production stages were determined. It was recommended Kayseri Sugar Plant to improve getting the first and second law efficiencies.
