We’ve firstly furnished information about the stream of literary criticism and its premises on examinations of the texts with this method. Then the nature of hadith literature has been evaulated with reference to the literary criticism and it has been established that some aspects of this method is useful because of the resembling some elements in hadith corpus with narrative constituents in literary products. In this vein the approaches of Sebastian Giinther and Sylvia Akar have been treated and seen that especially Günther’s theoretical explanations and his application this method to the hadith matns proved to be more beneficial and inspiring. On the other hand Akar’s explanations about hadith literature seems to be more useful than her executing this method to the hadith matns. Finally we have to say that literary criticism methods seems to be of use, even to some extent, especially relating to the relatively longer hadiths and magazi riwayahs and may help to find out some issues in hadith matns
