Effect of Education and Monitoring on Developing Foot Care of Elderly with Diabetes Mellitus

Objective: To determine the effect of education and monitoring on developing foot care in elderly with diabetes. Methods: This was a controlled experimental a research. The study was performed with diabetes composed of 45 in control group and 45 in intervention group who met inclusion criteria for the study within registered elderly with diabetes in one center of elderly and a public hospital between the dates of September 2012-September 2013. Training and follow-up on foot care was carried out for the intervention group by performing four foot examinations in both groups. Results: Diabetic foot information and foot care behavior scores showed significantly greater increases in intervention group compared to controls.
